I have to admit, I'm doing my favorite thing on Mother's Day morning. Editing photos and updating my blog. Yesterday I met two women who really touched my heart. Although it was raining theses two friends, Kristine and Susan brightened the day. This project has enlightened me and introduced me to some really amazing women. This is something I never expected and today I photographed Susan and Kristine. Kristine volunteered to be photographed with her daughter. Kristine is another amazing woman, very involved in community service and philanthropy. She called me this week to say, I have a someone who you really need to photograph and introduced me to Susan. Susan's story to me is so inspiring. A story of how a Mom's love shows no boundaries. Susan lost her son, David to cancer two years ago. But it's not her sadness that she wants everyone to know about, it's all about David's story. In his honor and memory she keeps her head shaved and wears crane earrings. David loved cranes. But the absolute ultimate show of love for her son is on the back of her head; she has the coordinates of where he was buried out at sea tattooed on the back of her scalp. It's beautiful, and I'll never forget the day I was lucky enough to photography this woman. I absolutely love this project... Thank you Kristine and Susan for the opportunity to tell your stories.
